The Best Flying, the most fun and the most breathtaking views - it has to be a Microlight!
The Sydney Microlight Centre Pty Ltd (ABN 67 132 461 780) has been restructured and is now under new management following the untimely death of former CFI
and owner Paul Haines. Paul took an idea and turned it into one of the
most respected microlight training schools on the East coast. In the
process he became something of a legend amongst microlight pilots. As
new owner, it is my intention to continue Paul's good work by offering
the best standard of weightshift microlight aircraft flight training I
possibly can. We still do trial introductory flights which allow
everyone to experience the thrill of this type of flying. For those who
wish to proceed further, we will continue to provide pilot training all
the way from Pilot Certificate, Pax Endorsement, Radio and
Cross-Country right through to Instructor Ratings.
For those who don't know me, my name is Ned McIntosh,
and Paul trained me as his Senior Instructor several years before his
illness. Just like Paul, I have a passion for flying in various forms.
My first flight in a glider was in 1963 at the naval air station at
Nowra. I have some sailplane time from the early 1970s and did my first
skydive in December 1971, retiring from skydiving in 1998 after over
2000 jumps, with slightly in excess of 1000 being camera-jumps. The
urge to be in the air was still there and I took up flying microlights.
One way or another, I've been in the air for quite a while now, and I
intend to be flying for quite a while longer. Furthermore, I have a
genuine commitment to furthering the cause of weightshift microlight
aircraft because I believe they are the best-kept secret in
recreational aviation. If you have a dream of flying your own aircraft,
the Sydney Microlight Centre Pty Ltd can help you realise that dream.
We are
still Sydney's closest approved microlight training facility, located
at the Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park Rail, just over an
hour's drive south of Sydney at the end of the F6 Freeway. We've been
here since the early 1990s and we intend to be here for quite a while
yet. As other airports around Sydney are forced to close (Warnervale,
Hoxton Park etc) our airport becomes increasingly the focus of
recreational aviators. Our airport facilities are superb, and the views
from the air are simply stunning. You're going to love flying here!
The Sydney Microlight Centre Pty Ltd is also a factory sales and service organisation for the
Australian-built Airborne series of microlight aircraft. The
latest Rotax 912-powered microlights from Airborne take
performance to a new standard and are a delight to fly. Our current
training machine is a 912-powered Airborne Edge XT, fitted with the
Cruze wing. This is a truly great aeroplane.
We provide Airborne Edge microlights,
Rotax spare parts, radios, Comunica intercoms and helmets, instruments,
flying suits and all accessories.
The Illawarra
region is the perfect environment in which to learn to fly. The scenery
is stunning; beaches, the Wollongong area itself, Lake Illawarra and the escarpment, as seen from
the air, are some of the most beautiful views in Australia.
It's an
unforgettable experience!
